Dr. Thomas Darcie elected Fellow of the Optical Society of America

Professor Thomas Darcie continues to lead internationally in optical systems research, building upon his 20 years at AT&T Bell Labs (including Dept Head, Lab Director, VP). Since joining UVic in 2003, empowered by $1.4M CRC funding, he raised $1.6M with 13 research grants to support a broad systems research program. This resulted in new knowledge and technology exploitation in Internet collaboration, optical communications, imaging, and sensor systems. In addition to many publications, he filed 15 patents and collaborated extensively with commercial partners. He was elected Fellow of the Optical Society of America in October, 2008.
