Team EV Motorcycle selected to compete in the national final of the IEEE Canada TELUS Competition

ECE's Team EV Motorcycle has been selected to compete in the national final of the IEEE Canada TELUS Competition this September in Mississauga, Ontario. This EV motorcycle, which makes use of nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries and an electric motor, is envisioned to help reduce the carbon footprint and will also have an appealing factor, as current electric designs do not allow for transportation on highways.

The purpose of the IEEE Canada TELUS Innovation Award is to offer IEEE student members the opportunity to engage individually or as a team in a significant design project, such as their final year undergraduate project in an engineering or technology program.

As one of the Western Canada Regional winners, our ECE students Kyle Cameron, Ruaridh Mackinnon, Shane Reierson, and Chris Rittaler (under the guidance of Prof. A. Bhat), earn an all expense paid trip to the final competition, vying for a top prize of $10,000.
